Supporting the Development of Oracy (2025-26)
To ensure all students can find their spoken voice in the classroom and the seminar room alike, we collaborated on an exciting pilot project with oracy charity, Voice21, alongside local A-Level teachers and academics at Newcastle University. Over a term/semester, the teachers and academics involved trialled different oracy strategies with their students, reflected on their pedagogy, and shared effective practice across their different settings.

Get Creative! (2024-25)
Funded by the Catherine Cookson Fund, Get Creative! was a series of workshops run in collaboration with Student Health and Wellbeing and the University’s heritage organisations. Visiting the Library’s Special Collections, the Farrell Centre, the Great North Museum and the Hatton gallery, students took part in creative wellbeing activities led by artists that fostered a sense of community and belonging here at the University.

Bridging the Gap (2023-25)
Bridging the Gap was an innovative student-led, collaborative project, with the aim to create high quality, online study skills resources for A-Level and Stage 1 Undergraduate students that build student knowledge, skills, confidence and independence, all directed by user input. Through the project, we created a suite of over 40 resources to support students in the transition to university, covering everything from revision and research to communication and healthy study habits. The project was shortlisted for a Times Higher Education Award in 2023 and won the University’s Vice Chancellor’s Education Excellence Award in 2025.
