Law resources and services: a new approach for 2025/26

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing Library services and supporting the evolving study needs and preferences of our students, we will be relocating key Law print collections to the Philip Robinson Library this summer.
We know that the Philip Robinson Library is popular with Law students and colleagues, due to its mix of spaces and extended opening hours. So we are working in partnership with academic colleagues to identify and transfer essential Law books, reports and journals for your programme, initially prioritising those materials only available in print.
This move will give you 24/7 term-time access to essential print Law resources for the first time. We will also continue to invest in online Law materials, including e-textbooks, which can be access anytime, anywhere.
Summer temporary closure of the Law Library
To enable us to make the necessary stock transfers, the Law Library will close for the summer at 17.00 on Friday 27 June, and reopen on Monday 15 September at 10.00. During the closure period we will operate a print request service, to ensure continued access to Law books, reports and journals only available in print.
Law Library opening hours from 15 September 2025
The Law library will continue to house some Law print collections and offer a mix of different study spaces for students.
From 15 September 2025, it will be open Monday to Friday, 10.00 to 17.00 throughout teaching and assessment weeks. Opening hours will be updated on the Visiting the Library webpages.
Help for students, colleagues and visitors to the Law Library
Throughout the summer and in the new academic year, Library staff will be available to help you access print materials and make the most of our library resources and spaces. Use Library Help to talk to our friendly Library Staff, or Live Chat with us 24 hours a day.
The Academic Liaison Librarian for Law, Rob McEwen-Orr, is working closely with academic colleagues to ensure continued embedded support for all students, and we will have more updates on support for the new academic year 2025/26 later in the summer.
