Advice for Students
Advice for StudentsIf you're a Newcastle University student and you have some concerns about your wellbeing, please contact us to request an assessment appointment with a member of the Counselling and Mental Health Team.
If you are worried about a fellow student between 09.00 and 17.00 please call the Welfare Team on:

For concerns which cannot wait till the next working day, contact
University Security on + 44 (0) 191 208 6817 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
Emergencies
If you think a fellow student may be at immediate risk of harming themselves or someone else (ie i.e. threatening to take their own life or the life of another person), call the emergency services on 999, then follow this up with a call to University Security on + 44 (0) 191 208 6817.
Security will then work with emergency emergency services and Student Health and Wellbeing to take support and safeguarding action.

Advice for Family and Friends
Advice for Family and FriendsIf you're a parent, family member or friend of a Newcastle University student whose mental health you are concerned about, you can contact the Student Wellbeing Service who will be able to advise and/or signpost you in the right direction.
It's often helpful to encourage the student to take a look at our web pages and to contact the service themselves to request an assessment appointment. During this appointment, we'll discuss the range of support available and which option might best suit their particular needs.

Emergencies
The Student Health and Wellbeing Service is not an emergency service.
If the student is expressing thoughts of suicide, self-harm or risk-taking behaviour, and you have a high concern for their safety, advise them to contact their GP and arrange an appointment immediately.
