Newcastle University proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone as Mia Fox marks her 20th year as the Catholic Chaplain. Over the past two decades, Mia has been a steadfast presence on campus, offering unwavering support and guidance to countless students and staff members.
In her tenure, Mia has dedicated an astounding 40,000 hours to pastoral care, providing a comforting blend of tea, tissues, and theology. She has spent 9,000 hours humorously navigating the complexities of various academic disciplines, often pretending to understand the intricacies of students' degrees 😬. During exam seasons, her whispered prayers, totaling 60,000, have been a source of solace for many.
Mia's impact extends beyond numbers. She has engaged in 2 million conversations, ranging from awkward small talk to profound discussions, all while sharing countless veggie pasta bakes. Her commitment to "keeping the rumour of God alive" has been a beacon of hope and faith for the university community.
Reflecting on her journey, Mia expresses heartfelt gratitude: "Thanks to every student and colleague who I’ve encountered on this wild and sacred journey - you’ve made it full of fun and grace!"
As she looks to the future, Mia assures us that there are still more years left in her tank. "I’ll bring the biscuits," she promises, ready to continue her mission of support and care.
Newcastle University is deeply grateful for Mia Fox's two decades of dedicated service and looks forward to many more years of her invaluable presence on campus.
