Student Surveys

Student surveys gather feedback and opinions from students regarding various aspects of their educational experience and provide insights that help in enhancing the quality of education and the overall student experience.

Student Surveys

Three student surveys are running in 2023-24

  • Newcastle Experience Survey – for all non-finalist undergraduates (excluding placement/mobility students)
  • National Student Survey (NSS) – the national survey for all finalist undergraduates
  • Postgraduate Student Experience Survey (PTES) - a sector wide survey for PGT students

The Postgraduate Research Student Experience Survey (PRES) is run biannually and is not running in 2023-24.

All three surveys will open from the 5th February and be promoted during ‘Feedback February’ - the NSS and PTES will remain open until their national closing dates.

All staff in Schools and Faculties are asked to promote the relevant surveys to their students using the information and resources provided below.

University policy on surveys is set out in the Student Evaluation of Teaching Policy, and supported by the procedures for institutional and national surveys.

The National Student Survey (NSS) is open to all undergraduate final year students.

PTES

The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey is for postgraduate taught students around the world.

PRES

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey is for postgraduate research students across the world.
