Library building works taking place this summer
9 June 2025
This summer sees the start of improvements to some of our library spaces and infrastructure.
Replacement of the lift located near the main PC cluster on level 2 of the Philip Robinson Library will be taking place from June 9th. Work is expected to last 8 weeks and is part of an essential maintenance programme to replace all lifts operating on this older type of mechanism across campus.
Work will take place to replace part of the roof of the Philip Robinson Library from June 9th. Work is expected to last 16 weeks, and once completed will contribute towards our commitment to sustainability and achieving carbon neutral at sunnier times during the year.
At times and particularly in the first few weeks, this work will cause some noise, and we will be working hard with contractors to minimise this.
You may prefer to work elsewhere or at a different time of day to avoid any noise, and alternative study spaces are available at the Marjorie Robinson Library and the Walton Library – see below for opening hours. The Philip Robinson Library will be open as normal until 10pm for those who prefer to work later in the evening. There are also alternative study spaces located across campus.
