Staff Profile
I am currently Project Manager of the project CANDO (Controlling Abnormal Network Dynamics using Optogenetics). This aims to build a cutting edge, combined gene therapy and bioelectronic implant to prevent seizures in those with focal epilepsy. This seven year, £10M Innovative Engineering for Health Award, funded by the Wellcome Trust and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) involves a team of over 30 neuroscientists, engineers and clinicians based at Newcastle University, Imperial College London, University College London and The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
I am responsible for co-ordinating the internal and external components of the project, ensuring good project management and communications across its many stakeholders.
Previously I have managed technical, scientific and market development projects across the UK in the private sector and for Government delivery bodies and departments.
I have a MSc in Clean Technology (Newcastle University, 1997) and a BSc (hons) in Microbiology (Newcastle University, 1996). I am a qualified marketer and former associate member (ACIM) of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
