Research Career Development

We recruit the most talented researchers and support their career progression.

We have two support routes for our researchers that offer a combination of training, mentorship and peer support to develop their skills and knowledge, build networks and plan their careers.

We want our researchers to realise their potential. Creating a supportive culture that encourages personal development and confidence is our priority

Professor Quentin Anstee, Dean of Research and Innovation

Our Commitment

Newcastle University is proud to be a signatory of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. This promotes the importance of creating and embedding a positive, diverse, inclusive and open research culture.

We have placed Research Culture at the centre of our research strategy. Our vision for a positive research culture is based on what our research community tells us is important for them. We are committed to building a welcoming and empowering research culture where everyone has the freedom and opportunity to succeed. We recognise everyone’s varied contributions to research and support diverse career aspirations.

We value individual differences and the diversity that this brings. We want our staff to feel they are part of a fully inclusive community where no-one is at a disadvantage because of who they are.
