Staff Profile
I am a Research Fellow of the Edmond J Safra Accelerating clinical trials in Parkinson's disease (EJS ACT-PD) initiative where I have supported efforts to scope and improve PD clinical research infrastructure as well as develop and evaluate patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE).
I have a background in molecular biology with four years of experience in researching cannabinoids as neuroprotective agents in a cell culture model of Parkinson’s disease and more than 9 years of experience in laboratory-based research with hands-on experience in a wide variety of laboratory research techniques.
I am a fellow of the ACORD collaboration.
I have a passion for actively incorporating the patient voice in research. Together with the EJS ACT-PD PPIE group, which consists of 13 patients and are partners, I have co-developed, put into practice and evaluated mechanisms that allow the effective training and engagement of patients and carers in the development of the EJS ACT-PD trial. I have conducted a study to assess the impact of patient and carer involvement in the EJS ACT-PD initiative.
I am involved in the development of trial delivery models that anticipate workforce and recruitment needs for the EJS ACT-PD trial as well as developing strategies to actively encourage the engagement with minority and underserved groups.
Together with Prof Camille Carroll and Prof Yan Yiannakou, I have been developing a national research register for people with Parkinson's called Join Parkinson's Research hosted by Research+Me (JPR@Research+Me).
