Staff Profile

I am a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Vascular and Endovascular surgery. I graduated from the Hull-York Medical School in 2008 and went on to complete my Doctor of Medical Sciences in 2017 with two MHRA regulated randomised control trials. I have maintained a strong research interest with the overarching object to facilitate improvements in both clinical and patient reported outcomes around the time of vascular surgery. My current interests include anaemia and frailty along with an ongoing interest in venous disease.

In 2018 I was appointed as the Royal College of surgeons Associate Specialty lead for vascular research and co-steer the James Lind Alliance Vascular Surgery Process. I am a core member of the Vascular and Endovascular Research Network (VERN) executive and have been co-leading the multi-national prospective COVER study. I am also a member of the National Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Program Research board.

 

As well as a busy academic career I participate in undergraduate medical education and post-graduate education as part of the Masters in Vascular Ultrasound program. I hold both a Certificate in Medical Education (PGCME, Hull-York, 2010) and in Vascular Ultrasound (PGCDI, University of Leeds 2013).

 

Outside of work, I enjoy cycling and I am a proud husband to a successful paediatrician in the region. We have two fantastic sons who certainly keep us busy!
