Who We Are

We are the dedicated Initial Point of Contacts (IPC) for transgender and non-binary students at Newcastle University, providing a safe, confidential and supportive first step for accessing guidance and support.

What We Offer

We provide personalised, student-centred support, including:

• Guidance on changing your name and gender on university records (no deed poll required)
• Support navigating trans healthcare pathways
• Signposting to external support groups and organisations
• Advice on accessing wider university services and support
• Liaison with relevant teams where appropriate (with your consent)

• Students who identify as transgender or non-binary
• Students who are questioning their gender identity
• Students who would prefer to speak to one person rather than multiple services

Our Approach

We welcome everyone in the transgender and non-binary community and are committed to ensuring students are not disadvantaged. We recognise that discussing personal matters can feel difficult, and offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can explore your options without pressure.
