Background
Oliver Shannon is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate working in the Human Nutrition Research Centre at Newcastle University.
Research
Oliver's research interests include exploring the physiological and cognitive effects of nutritional interventions in healthy and clinical populations. As part of his post-doctoral position, Oliver is working on the MedEx-UK project - an Alzheimers Research UK funded project investigating the individual and combined effects of a Mediterranean diet and physical activity on vascular and cognitive health in older individuals. Oliver also conducts investigations exploring the effects of inorganic nitrate (typically via beetroot juice) on nitric oxide bioavailability, alongside physiological and cognitive function.
