Global Women's Breakfast 2025

The IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast is an event that happens on a single day in February of each year in conjunction with the U.N Day of Women and Girls in Science, with hundreds of events taking place at the same time across the world. Over the last five years, more than 1500 GWB events have been held across 100 different countries.

The theme for #GWB2025 is “Accelerating Equity in Science” and will see colleagues of all genders, from all types of science organisations, working in all areas come together to share breakfast and drive forward diversity in science.

This year we welcome Dr Kate Harris, NUAcT Fellow from Newcastle University, who will share some of her experiences with us through her talk “Listening beyond the labels”. Followed by a thought provoking and participative session which aims to raise awareness of different perceptions of equity with participants from a range of scientific disciplines - all accompanied by breakfast and refreshments of course!

As part of this event, attendees will be asked to take part in group discussions around barriers they have faced and overcome, support they have received and given, and hopes for the future of equity in science. All are welcome!
