Induction Timetables

Induction takes place over one week for all students with Induction information both online and some meetings, activities and kit collection taking place on campus. We would like all our students to look at the important information within our SNES Community Induction pages on our online system Canvas.

New Undergraduate Welcome events

We look forward to welcoming our new undergraduate students to our School.

There is lots of Induction infomation available on Canvas; please look through both the information for New Undergraduate Students and your individual programme on the School's SNES Community - you will need to be registered to be able to view material on Canvas - the joining details for any online sessions can also be found here.

You can also select any optional modules for your first year on the SNES Community; further details will be provided during Induction and you can submit your choices until 8th October.

Returning Undergraduate Students

We would like to welcome our continuing students back to the next stage of your degree programme.

Please make sure you look through the information on the SNES Community - there is a lot of information relevant for returning students and an Induction page for your programme/stage with Zoom details for any online sessions. On the SNES Community you can also submit an online form to request to change any optional modules, before 8th October.

Welcome to the School of Natural & Environmental Sciences (SNES), Newcastle University!

Registration 

Please follow the link to full instructions on the registration process, which are included on the pre-arrival web pages. If you have any queries about registration, please see our enquiries page. Please note you should be fully registered no later than Tuesday 24 May 2022. If there is a delay please let us know at snes.pgr.support@ncl.ac.uk as soon as possible. 

Induction

  • SAgE Faculty Induction Day will take place Thursday 28th April 2022, between 13.30 and 16.30. This will be held in person on campus in room HDB.6.16, PGR Training Space, Level 6, Henry Daysh Building. Please ensure to book a place in advance of the event. Please note only registered students will be able to book a place.
  • The School of Natural and Environmental Sciences Induction is planned to take place on Friday 29th April 2022, between 9am and 12pm. (please refer to the Campus and City Map for reference). This will be held in-person on campus in room BEDB.1.19, 1st Floor, Bedson Building.  This will include welcome sessions and introductions to staff and students. These will be supplemented by online material provided in the Canvas Community (The University's Virtual Learning Environment). Please note you will need to be fully registered to be able to access Canvas so it’s important to do this as soon as possible. Find out more including how to access Canvas, navigate the dashboard and view course content.

Once registered, you will also have access via the SNES Community to the “Build your new” material on Canvas which has been put together to help you get the most out of your induction. All the information you will need to manage your studies with us is on Canvas and you must familiarise yourself with the processes and procedures before you start your studies.

International Arrival 

If you have any questions about international arrival, quarantine and support, please see this web page which is regularly updated. We have a package of support in place for International students travelling to Newcastle for the start of the 2021-22 academic year if you need to self-isolate.
