Background
Prior to my current job I worked as a technician at Durham University for 2 years, and before that in environmental consultancy for 5 years, and in agricultural field trials for 3 years.
Skills: Conducting field trials, culturing plants and insects, experimental design, data handling, statistical analysis, report writing, DNA and RNA extraction,(q)PCR, DNA and RNA sequencing, molecular cloning, Agrobacterium mediated transformation of Arabidopsis; CRISPR-Cas9 and TALEN based genome editing, microbiology, microscopy, slide preparation, basic Python coding for bioinformatics, calibrating and maintaining lab equipment, completing health and safety documentation, ordering lab supplies.
Out of these, my main interest is gene editing.
Research
I’m currently employed on a project looking at precision agriculture.
