Research communities and centres
Our research communities play a critical role in changing the business world and shaping its future.
Research communities
We are a research-intensive business school in a Russell Group University. Research is an integral piece of what we do. We have created an internationally distinctive research reputation through our vibrant collaborations. It plays a vital role in how we engage with organisations and policymakers on a regional, national and international platform.
We aim to inspire new global perspectives through our research in:
We are home to over 180 academic researchers. Their research is world-leading in the following areas:
- accounting and finance
- economics
- entrepreneurship and innovation
- information systems and operations
- leadership, work and organisation
- marketing
Our thriving research communities deliver research for discovery and impact. They couple research with practice through interdisciplinary and cross-institutional partnerships.
Leadership, Work and Organisation
Home to two research communities: Strategy, International Business and Society and Human Resource Management, Work and Employment.
Marketing, Operations and Systems
A large group undertaking research that contributes to the manufacturing, service, public and voluntary sectors.
Research centres
We have four research centres which the School (co-)leads. They drive interdisciplinary research and bridge the gap between academia, policy and practice.
Our research centres draw on knowledge and skills across the University. They bring together researchers and those with a professional interest in particular disciplines.
We stretch boundaries, challenge traditional ways of thinking, and find new solutions to problems.
The Centre for Knowledge, Innovation, Technology and Enterprise (KITE)
KITE contributes to academic debates. It influences thinking in business, government and third sector bodies.
The Centre for Research in Enterprise, Wealth and Philanthropy (REWP)
REWP is our other University research centre. Its mission is to increase the scale and effectiveness of philanthropic giving, globally. The Centre achieves this through its research and research-related activities.
