Summary
I am the Deputy School Manager (Education) for the School of Engineering where I am responsible for the Education Strategy and Quality Assurance policies and procedures within the School, ensuring compliance with School, Faculty and University regulations.
Background
I am a Chemical Engineer and have a PhD from the University of Surrey in Biomedical Engineering. In 2007 I started working in the policy team at the Royal Society of Chemistry where I was responsible for policy in the areas energy, environment and sustainability before joining the Institution of Engineering and Technology, where I was the Principal Policy Advisor for transport and manufacturing policy. As part of my role there I facilitated the transport sessions of cross-government events on engineering, infrastructure and climate change adaptation, authored a report on the unintended consequences of transport and coordinated a number of transport related consultation responses to the Department for Transport, EU Commission, Royal Academy of Engineering and House of Commons Transport Select Committee. In 2010 I decided to move back into research and joined the Transport Operations Research Group at Newcastle University as Senior Research Associate. In this role I specialised in developing, managing and delivering large-scale, real-world demonstrator trials of electric vehicles and ICT solutions for managing urban transport networks more sustainably and efficiently. My ability to join, initiate and maintain international multi-stakeholder research consortia has seen me at the core of the management teams for European collaborative research and demonstration projects on electric vehicles and cooperative systems. Over the past three years I have successfully prepared bids to the European Commission, EPSRC and the TEN-T Executive Agency.
Qualifications
PhD Biomedical Engineering, University of Surrey, UK
Euro Dipl. Ing. Chemieingenieurswesen, Europa-Fachhochschule Fresenius, Germany

Previous Work
Compass4D – I was the Evaluation Work Package leader for the Compass4D project, a EUR 10 Million European cooperative vehicle demonstration project where I was responsible for the pilot evaluation of 7 sites across Europe.
TUCP - Transforming Utilities' Conversion Points (EP/J005649/1) A project to design more sustainable, adaptable and resilient infrastructure by exploring how energy is used to deliver domestic utility services such as water, electricity.
Rapid Charge Network (RCN) – I was the Study Lead for the RCN project, which aimed to develop a strategy for the installation and operation of rapid charge points and undertake a study on the impact that such a network will have on driver and charger behaviour.
SWITCH-EV - Demonstrating and evaluating electric vehicles in the north east of England with a specially developed and integrated data logging system.
OASIS - Utilising ICT and other key technologies in order to provide holistic services to older people to support their physical and psychological independence, stimulate their social or psychological engagement and foster their emotional well being. In doing so, OASIS thus addresses key areas of their activities encompassing: independent living and socialising, autonomous mobility, and flexible work-ability.
SIDE - Addressing four fields where digital technologies and the building of a truly inclusive digital economy could deliver major social benefits including Inclusive Transport Services, which focuses on elderly drivers, traveller information systems and pedestrian navigation.
