Overview

Melis is a Lecturer at Newcastle University Business School who is undertaking a part time PhD in the field of accounting and professional identity. Prior to joining Newcastle University, Melis worked as a chartered accountant for various businesses across the North East for over eight years.

The primary aim of the research is to explore the drivers behind professional identity for chartered accountants and the extent to which they continue to inform professional identity when individuals leave accountancy practice for an industry-based career.
