Project description
I am investigating the relationship between cell biological functions and cell mechanics based on experiments. I will bridge the biological and mechanical studies of the cell by developing a general computational model.
I will develop a generic DEM model to describe the mechanical and chemical interactions of cells.
I will characterise the mechanical properties of cells. I will calibrate the computational model based on experimental measure cell adhesions.
I will explore how cellular structure and specific surface proteins may affect cell mechanics and cell adhesion.
