Project description

I am developing vision optogenetics prosthetics.

Vision is the most important of the physical senses that humans have. Some severe eye conditions such as cataracts now have mature clinical treatments. Still, there are several conditions for which there is very limited treatment. For example, in the case of glaucoma and bilateral trauma, there is no longer a functional link between the retina and the visual cortex.

As such, there is a strong interest in both electrical and optogenetic/optoelectronic intervention:

  • OptoVis (Optogenetic Visual-cortical Prothesis)
  • OptoNeuro (Platform for Optogenetic Neuron Stimulation)

Interests

Implantable devices and optogenetic visual prothesis.

Qualifications

  • BEng in Automation and Control, Jilin University, China (2015)
  • MSc in Wireless Embedded Systems with distinction, Newcastle University, UK (2017)
