About your course

The testing facilities that I was able to use for my third year project gave me the hands-on experience that I particularly enjoy.

Recommending Newcastle

Newcastle is a great place to study Naval Architecture; you meet like-minded people, attend lectures by industry-leading academics, and have all the resources you need to leave with a fantastic degree.

Living in Newcastle

Newcastle can only be described as lively. In my opinion you have all the positives of living in a city yet at the same time you’re never too far away from a good bike ride in the country.

In my first year I was living in Castle Leazes; this was a great place to meet people. In my second, third and fourth years I’ve been living in a shared house in Jesmond. Jesmond is a very special place; there are many bars in Osbourne Road where you’ll find many student indulging in happy hours after lectures.

Clubs and societies

There are masses of clubs and societies to get involved in while you’re at Newcastle. I’ve personally been a member of the Surfing Club where there are regular trips to find waves. I'm also a member of the Mountain Biking Society which is a great substitute when there are no waves.
