Sea Travel to Newcastle

The International Ferry Terminal is approximately seven miles east of Newcastle at North Shields. Ferries travel daily to and from Amsterdam, operated by DFDS Seaways.

You can also sail from Holland and Belgium to Hull, by P&O Ferries which is approximately two and a half hours (150 miles) south of Newcastle by car.

Arriving by sea without a car

If you are a foot passenger arriving at the North Shields ferry port, there are bus services to Newcastle city centre, which take approximately 30 minutes. Taxis are available outside the ferry terminal.

The nearest Metro station is Percy Main, about a 20 minute walk from the terminal building. The Metro journey into the city centre takes 20 minutes.
