Charity Status and Requirements
On 1 June 2010, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) became principal regulator of the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that are exempt charities. HEFCE performs this role on behalf of the Charity Commission in order to meet the requirements of the Charities Act 2011. As a result of this, HEIs are required to include information about their charity status and trustees on their website.
