The Armstrong Building

- Site of the original Armstrong College founded in 1871
- Home to King's Hall, the setting for graduation ceremonies
The Armstrong Building forms one side of the Quadrangle. This building was originally part of Armstrong College founded in 1871 (then part of Durham University) which eventually became Newcastle University in 1963.
A number of subject areas are based here, including the School of Arts and Cultures and the School of Marine Science and Technology. It also houses the King’s Hall, an impressive wood-panelled room that is the setting for the University’s graduation ceremonies.
