If you don't get the results you need to get into your chosen university, don't panic.

Clearing gives you the opportunity to apply for other courses. If you've done better than expected Adjustment is a chance for you to reconsider where and what to study.

    Sign up for Clearing Alerts to keep up to date with all the latest courses, news, advice and guidance on securing a place at Newcastle University through Clearing.

  • Search for courses in Clearing

    We have Clearing places available for high-achieving applicants on many courses. Places are available at our Newcastle and London campuses, particularly if you achieve ABB+ or equivalent in your exams.

    Find out whether the course you’re interested in studying is available through Clearing.

  • Results day: check your grades

    Check UCAS Track to see if you have been accepted on your chosen course. If you haven’t, check our subjects in Clearing to see if the course you're interested is still available through Clearing.

    Don't forget, if you've done better than you expected, you can apply to a different course or university. We have places available to high achieving students.

  • From 17 August: call our hotline

    Our Clearing hotline is open on Thursday 17 August from 7.30am to 6pm.
    Please call yourself as the Admissions Tutor will want to speak to you personally. Have your exam results and UCAS personal ID number handy and be ready to talk about yourself. If we put you through to an Admissions Tutor, they’ll want to know about you, your grades and motivations. Think of any questions you might want to ask to help you make your decision if you get an offer.

  • Receive an offer

    The Admissions Tutor will tell you whether you have a place at the end of your call.

    We will:

    1. send you an email telling you what to do next. The email will include information on your guaranteed accommodation and how to apply for it
    2. check your grades and let UCAS know that you have a place with us

    You will need to add your Clearing choice to your UCAS application in UCAS Track (you'll be able to see on UCAS Track that we have accepted you once we've processed your application)

  • Don't receive an offer

    If we can't give you an offer, you can still consider other universities through Clearing. Check the UCAS website for a full list of courses in Clearing.

  • Get ready to join us

    Congratulations! Share your #ticket2NCL celebrations with us on Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat and then kick back, relax and enjoy your summer.

    There are lots of ways to see what life at Newcastle is like. You can book a campus tour, take a virtual tour of the city and our campus or hear what our current students love about Newcastle.

  • Consider your options

    Remember you do have other options. You could consider:

    1. re-sitting your exams
    2. taking a year out to gain practical work experience before applying again next year

    UCAS have some useful information on alternatives to higher education.
