Research Excellence Framework
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is another example of a single topic ranking.
REF is national exercise to evaluate research quality. Submissions from each subject area are given a rank that informs the allocation of quality weighted research funding (QR) received from the funding council.
The most recent REF results were published in May 2022. They rank quality and impact of our research. Newcastle's results are shown in the table below:
