Contracting status

Newcastle University is no longer classed as a 'contracting authority' for the purposes of UK Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Advertisement of contracts in Find a Tender and Contracts Finder is at the sole discretion of the University.

The University reserves its right to adapt or step outside of the procedures in the procurement legislation as the University considers necessary. The procedure that we wish to follow for any individual procurement will be explained in the relevant tender documentation.

Supplier registration

The University makes use of various framework/consortia agreements to identify suppliers for the required goods and services, particularly for high value purchases.

Examples of these consortia include:

• North-Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium (NEUPC)
• The University Caterers Organisation TUCO)
• Crown Commercial Services (CCS)

Suppliers are also encouraged to register on the University’s Proactis ProContract e-tendering portal to be informed on our procurement activities, advertised publicly.
