Aims
To develop understanding of topics in engineering of smart and urban systems, through case studies in modern systems including digital twins and cyber-physical systems. To discuss responses to the questions raised in other modules and to help students develop and critique responses to challenges in the changing urban environment.

Current and future challenges in the changing urban environment
Case studies present-day systems including digital twins and cyber-physical systems.
Overview of advanced topics related to systems engineering including human factors, machine learning and algorithmic fairness.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
The lectures will cover core material and develop knowledge in concepts, challenges and professional
issues. Workshops and online discussion will develop student thinking on their research topic and develop skills in critical thinking, communicating with different audiences and giving constructive feedback.
