Aims
This module aims to introduce students to quantitative research methods used in organisational analysis and management research and writing. This module aims to explain commonly used statistical terms and methods, demonstrate how to interpret findings and provide students with the knowledge and skills to critically appraise research methodology.
Outline Of Syllabus
Topics to be covered include (1) research objectives and contexts appropriate to the use of quantitative research methods; (2) scientific method; (3) sampling strategies and issues; (4) development and validity of measures (5) survey of advanced statistical methods for discovering associations between variables; (6) correlation and regression. Effective use of several quantitative research methods is illustrated through a close reading of research papers drawn from several disciplines in management and social sciences.

Lectures will take place within the guided practical sessions to introduce ideas and provide knowledge of methods and terminology. Practical sessions provide the opportunity for students to work through examples. Workshops will provide the opportunity for consideration and reflection.
