Aims

Economies continue to face significant societal challenges, from coronavirus, political upheaval, conflict, the cost-of-living crisis, driving sustainable solutions for levelling up, getting public services back on track and transforming care. Digital transformation has played a significant role in tackling these challenges but with scare resources value must be realised for the least amount of cost as possible. A key innovation helping to achieve this is low code software development. Revolutionising digital transformation, low code uses drag-and-drop features rather than extensive coding language to build applications. This means faster development and crucially non-IT professionals can use it.

In this module you will build on theoretical and empirical knowledge gained in the first semester to lead a discovery process to scope and plan a digital transformation project which will achieve sustainable impact in a host/partner organisation.

You will develop practical skills in consulting practice for a real client. These skills include team work, diagnostic skills, scenario building, strategic analysis, recommendations development and reporting.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship

This module is about working with organisations in the health, social and voluntary sectors in a facilitated way to support their sustainable development and growth (taking into account how they want to develop and grow their organisation). Therefore a largely workshop based approach to teaching and learning is most appropriate. Foundational workshops at the beginning of the module will enable students to understand the role that they will be taking as consultants during this module. To facilitate group work students will have timetabled slots each teaching week to progress the outputs they need to deliver (for the client and for the assessment).

Assessment Methods

Formative Assessment is an assessment which develops your skills in being assessed, allows for you to receive feedback, and prepares you for being assessed. However, it does not count to your final mark.

Description Semester When Set Comment

Assessment Rationale And Relationship

This is a consultancy based module designed to support a real client and so the assessment focuses on
the deliverables of the report, and the presentation and discussion with the client. Both deliverables will enable students to demonstrate that intended knowledge and skills learning outcomes for the module. Reports will indicate the contributions of individual team members for the assessment of team working, while the presentation will also provide the opportunity for team work to be shown. Peer assessment will be used.
