Aims
To extend the range of skills and subject matter of students engaged in writing poetry towards the composition of longer poems and sequences; to allow students to reflect creatively and critically on their own and other people's writing.
Outline Of Syllabus
The Longer Poem and the Sequence combines writing activities with discussion of existing examples, leading to a draft of the student’s own extended poem.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Throughout the weeks of study students will undertake writing exercises in the seminars and will reflect as a group upon each other’s writing. They will incorporate comments through revision and selection of, and commentary upon, their final submission of poems
