Newcastle University Virtual Events Code of Conduct

We are committed to providing a safe environment where all participants are treated with kindness, fairness, respect, and tolerance. By following this code of conduct, you help us create a positive experience for everyone.

Guidelines

We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • verbal and non-verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion
  • sexual language and images in public spaces
  • deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • harassing photography or recording
  • sustained disruption of talks or other events
  • unwelcome sexual attention
  • unsolicited advertising
  • advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour

Enforcement

Any participant who violates these rules, whether accidentally or on purpose, will be removed immediately.

We reserve the right to take any appropriate action to protect other participants and maintain a safe environment. This includes removing participants from the platform.

Sharing personal data

Please do not share any personal data (either yours or someone else’s) on this platform, either in the group chat or direct message.

Personal data includes an identifier like:

  • an identification number, for example your National Insurance or passport number
  • your location data, for example your home address
  • an online identifier, for example your IP or email address

If you have any concerns about the content or activity or other participants or staff on the platform, please report this to open.day@ncl.ac.uk
