Your Guide to UCAS Clearing 2025

Getting the right information is vital during Clearing. At Newcastle University we’ll support you every step of the way.

UCAS Clearing 2025 – same destination; different journey

Are you in Clearing, or do you think you will be? Perhaps you’re applying to university for the first time through Clearing?

Here’s what you need to do, both in the run-up to results day and once you’ve got your results.

Before results day

Preparation is key for Clearing; it’ll help you stay calm. Understanding the Clearing process is vital, too; it’ll help you feel confident and in control.

1. Search our courses: our Clearing courses will be shared here as soon as they’re available. In the meantime, please browse our courses to see what we offer at Newcastle. Clearing grades may differ to the ones published.

2. Get ready for Clearing: we’ve handpicked some useful resources to help you get ready for Clearing.

On results days

1. Results will be released on:

  • Saturday 6 July – International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Tuesday 5 August – Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers (SQA)
  • Thursday 14 August – A Levels

2. Check offers

If you’re holding an offer, sign in to your UCAS Hub from 08:00 to see if you’ve been accepted on to your chosen course.

If you haven’t been accepted, you can apply to us through Clearing.

3. Not holding any offers?

You can also apply to us through Clearing if:

  • you’re not holding any offers
  • you’re declining a firm unconditional place
  • you’ve been offered a different course by your firm and/or insurance choice universities and don’t want to accept it
  • you’re making a late application – perhaps you missed the UCAS application deadline, or have been waiting for your results before applying

4. Get your results

You must have your results before contacting us. Here’s how you’ll get them:

  • IB – via the candidate website
  • SQA – via text or email through My SQA; you can also collect your results from your school/college
  • A Level – collect your results from your school/college
