Entrance Requirements For: B46D

A Levels

AAB including two science subjects, preferably including Biology or Chemistry but excluding General Studies. Home Economics/Food Technology will be considered instead of Biology at A Level. Chemistry is preferred at A or AS level but not essential. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A levels, we require a pass in the practical element. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade B or 6) required if not offered at A or AS level.

Scottish Qualifications

AAABB at Higher Grade normally including two science subjects. Advanced Higher Biology and another science subject normally required. Home Economics/Food Technology will be considered instead of Biology. Higher Grade Chemistry desirable.

Mathematics required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade.  Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of grade C in the Higher Mathematics is required.

Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

International Baccalaureate

34 points including two science subjects, preferably including Biology or Chemistry at Higher Level Grade 5 or above. Mathematics or Mathematical Studies, Biology and Chemistry required at Standard Level grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.

Irish Leaving Certificate

H1H1H1H2H3 at Higher Level, preferably including Biology, Mathematics and another science subject. Home Economics/Food Technology will be considered instead of Biology.

Access Qualifications

45 level 3 credits at Distinction including 15 credits in biological sciences. Chemistry and mathematics or quantitative methods units are desirable.

Cambridge Pre-U

D3,D3,M2 in Principal Subjects normally including Biology and another science subject. Chemistry is preferred as a principal subject, but not essential. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade B or 6) required if not offered as a principal subject.

PARTNERS - A Levels

BBC including 2 science subjects preferably including Biology or Chemistry, but excluding General Studies. Home Economics/Food Technology will be considered instead of Biology at A Level. Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma/OCR Cambridge Technic

A science-related subject with substantial biology and chemistry units at overall DDD.

Extended Project Qualification

If you offer the Level 3 Extended Project Qualification in a topic relevant to the degree programme, we will vary our offer to recognise this.

BTEC Nationals/Cambridge Technicals with PARTNERS

A science-related subject with substantial biology and chemistry units at overall DDM.
