Aims

This module will enable students to acquire a solid footing in construction project management by covering key theoretical concepts and techniques across the entire life cycle of a construction project from early feasibility through planning and execution to commissioning and handover.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship

The module will be delivered using a mix of in-person lectures, seminars and workshops and drop-in Sessions. There is a day-long of Project Management simulation undertaken in groups in a lab environment using a gamified real-world project.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship

The individual essay will test student skills and abilities in addressing a selected construction management topic that is key to deliver effective and efficient construction projects, and to evaluate students’ abilities and skills developed during the live simulation exercise and other activities and their use to perform a personal reflection. This is supplemented with the formative live simulation exercise which is key to replicate the dynamics of live projects where individuals work as part of teams and interact with a variety of stakeholders when making decisions. (AHEP 4 LOs: M4, M5, M9, M15, M16, M17, M18)
