Mechanical Engineering Scholarships

We have a range of scholarships available for Mechanical Engineering students.

CyberFirst Student Bursary

This bursary provides:

  • an annual bursary of £4000 for each year of degree study in a STEM subject
  • work experience opportunities

John and Anne Scott Scholarship 2025-26

Provided by: John (BSc Mechanical Engineering, class of 1964) and Anne Scott 

Number of awards available: 1 

Scholarship amount: £9,090 total - £3,030 per year will be paid for your first 3 years of study 

Eligibility criteria: 

To be eligible for this award, you must be:

  1. A UK based Undergraduate student, entering stage 1 of study
  2. A Widening Participation (WP) student
  3. Registered on one of the following courses:
    • BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (H300)
    • MEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (H301)

Notice of Award: You will be informed by advancementscholarships@ncl.ac.ukor the Student Financial Support Team by the end of the Autumn term if you were successful in receiving the scholarship. 

Conditions of scholarship: All donor-funded scholarship recipients are asked to provide an introductory profile when they first receive the award, and an annual update report to inform their donor of their progress. You will be contacted to provide these reports with plenty of notice. Recipients are encouraged to be available to meet the donors and participate in the promotion of student support activity at Newcastle University if requested.

Wilson Campbell Memorial Scholarship

Name of Scholarship: Wilson Campbell Memorial Scholarship

Number of awards available: 8

Scholarship Amount: £1,000

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this award, you must be:

  • A UK based Undergraduate student, entering stage 1 of study
  • Registered on one of the following courses:
    • BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (H300)
    • MEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (H301) 
    • BEng (Hos) Electrical and Electronic Engineering (H607)
    • MEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Industrial Project (H605)
    • BEng (Hons) Electronics and Computer Engineering (H652)
    • MEng (Hons) Electronics and Computer Engineering with Industrial Project (H654)

Scholarship will be awarded automatically to the top-ranking students on these programmes registered as stage 1 students in 2025-26.

Notice of Award: The successful candidates will be contacted by the School of Engineering and Student Financial Support Services in the Autumn Term.
