Our story
It began with the Industrial Revolution that changed the world. We were founded by industrial pioneers to train the doctors needed to improve public health and the engineers who would drive our local industries of shipbuilding, steel, mining and agriculture.
The world has changed a lot since then and we have evolved to support society’s needs.
Today our diverse community welcomes students from all countries and backgrounds to be part of our legacy of pioneering learning, teaching and research.
