Teaching Rationale And Relationship

This knowledge is delivered via a series of present in person lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises; this provides the student with the necessary framework to acquire accurate ultrasound images in the workplace, and apply their knowledge of ultrasound theory and haemodynamics for the diagnosis of patients with a comprehensive range of vascular diseases.

Non-synchronous lectures and problem based learning activities provide essential skills to interpret and critically evaluate diagnostic ultrasound waveforms, images, and measurements.

Project based learning allows the student to critically evaluate the safety of diagnostic ultrasound equipment.

Problem based learning, tutorials and case based discussions provide the opportunity to apply technical and scientific principles of ultrasound to vascular ultrasound imaging and to critically evaluate the diagnostic ultrasound measurements

Assessment Rationale And Relationship

The written exam assesses the application of knowledge in ultrasound theory, technology, safety and heamodynamics to the interpretation of ultrasound images and waveforms in patients with vascular disease.

The practical project assesses the student’s ability to apply knowledge of safe practice in ultrasound scanning; and to critically evaluate ultrasound measurements.
