Sarah Urquhart
Research Funding Development Manager
Role
Sarah works across all three faculties, supporting academics in securing funding for their research from European and international sources, including Horizon Europe.
Our Research Funding Development Team provides:
- Advice on funder strategy
- Information on funders’ forthcoming plans and opportunities
- Support for large and complex funding applications
- Visits and information sessions from funders
- In‑house funding information sessions
- Guidance on finding funding
- Support with preparing funding applications
- Lay review of funding applications
- Grant training

Background
Sarah holds a Master’s degree in Town Planning and Environmental Management from the University of Manchester. Before joining the University, she worked with organisations delivering programmes funded by the European Regional Development Fund and supporting the European Landscape Convention.
At the University, Sarah has previously held two Research Project Coordinator roles: first on the VISION‑DMD clinical trial, part‑funded by Horizon 2020, at the John Walton Centre for Muscular Dystrophy, and later with the Electrical Power Research Group in the School of Engineering.
