International Pathway Courses

Choose from a range of study options designed to help you meet the entry requirements needed for your dream degree at Newcastle University.

Pathway courses can guide you towards a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. They are specialist programmes designed for international students who want to study in the UK but do not meet: 

  • the academic requirements
  • English language requirements for direct entry to their chosen degree

Our International Study Centre

Through our International Study Centre you can progress to study your dream degree at Newcastle University. You’re guaranteed a place on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, if you meet the success requirements.  

Developed in collaboration with our academics, pathway courses will give you the knowledge and skills you need to progress and succeed on your chosen degree. Before you begin your degree, they will support you in developing your: 

  • study habits
  • academic abilities
  • English language skills

Choose from the following courses: 

Undergraduate pathway courses
  • International Foundation: A guaranteed route to Year 1 of an undergraduate degree 
  • International Year One: Equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree at Newcastle University. You’ll continue straight to Year 2, provided you complete the programme and achieve the entry requirements

  • Pre-Master’s: Develop the academic, English language and study skills you need to successfully complete your Master’s degree at Newcastle University

English language courses
  • Academic English: Develop the language and study skills you need for university success
  • Pre-Sessional English (on campus or online): Improve your English language level to meet the requirements of your postgraduate degree – from anywhere in the world
