Financial support
I received immediate financial assistance from Newcastle University. This support was extremely helpful during my initial transition, as it allowed me to cover essential expenses and settle in more comfortably during my first days in the UK. The prompt assistance from the university made me feel supported and welcomed as an international student, helping me to focus on my studies and adapt to the new environment with greater ease.
Pastoral student support
During my studies at Newcastle University, I have had access to a range of pastoral support services, including the university’s dedicated Student Wellbeing team, academic advisors, and counselling services. I have also benefited from support offered through workshops, wellbeing events, and drop-in sessions focused on mental health and academic guidance.
The support services provided me with a reliable support network, helping me manage stress, adjust to a new environment, and maintain a healthy balance between my academic and personal life. Knowing that these resources are available has given me greater confidence and peace of mind throughout my studies.
My favourite thing about my course is the perfect blend of practical application and theoretical learning.

Advice for prospective students
My advice to prospective students interested in studying Data Science & AI is to be proactive and curious—don’t hesitate to seek out additional resources, ask questions, and engage with real-world projects. Develop a strong foundation in programming and mathematics, as these are essential skills for the field. Make the most of group work and networking opportunities, as collaboration is a key part of both learning and working in data science. Finally, stay open-minded and adaptable, because the field is constantly evolving with new technologies and ideas. If you approach the course with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, you’ll find the experience both rewarding and transformative.
A city of history and culture
What I enjoy most about Newcastle as a city is its vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The city combines rich history with modern amenities, offering beautiful architecture, lively cultural events, and plenty of green spaces to relax in. I love exploring the Quayside, visiting museums and galleries, and experiencing the diverse food scene.
Newcastle’s friendly community and dynamic student life make it easy to meet new people and feel at home. The city is very student-friendly, with excellent public transport, affordable living, and a strong sense of safety, all of which contribute to an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
Skills to develop my employability
I’ve developed strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as practical experience with data analysis tools and programming languages. I’ve also improved my teamwork and communication abilities through group projects, and learned to manage my time effectively when balancing multiple assignments. These skills have made me much more confident and prepared for a professional career in data science and AI.
