To provide further differential calculus and an introduction to integral calculus. Students who have completed the course will understand elementary differential and integral calculus, including a range of standard techniques and numerical approximation. They will also be familiar with arithmetic and geometric series and binomial expansions.

Outline Of Syllabus

Exponential and logarithmic functions and their derivatives. Methods of differentiation. Newton-Raphson method. Inverse trigonometric functions and their derivatives. Essential ideas of indefinite and definite integrals. Trapezoidal Rule. Methods of integration (including substitution, parts and the use of partial fractions). Finite arithmetic series. Finite and infinite geometric series. Binomial series.
