Gone through Clearing? Here’s what happens next.

Your university adventure starts here

Congratulations on choosing Newcastle University! We’re really looking forward to welcoming you to campus.

Before you join us in September, there are a few key things you need to do. Here’s a simple guide to help you get organised.

Apply for accommodation

We know Clearing can be a busy time, and we're here to help make finding a place to live as smooth as possible.

While we can’t guarantee accommodation, we’ll do our best to support as many students as we can. If we don’t have a room available for you, we’ll work closely with providers in the city and send you details of what’s on offer.

This year, we’re using an advanced booking system for Clearing and Insurance applicants. This means you'll reserve your room at the point of applying.

To apply for accommodation:

  • you must be a firm offer holder
  • please note that it can take up to 48 hours from when your details are updated on UCAS for your record to appear in our system

Our Clearing accommodation portal opens on Monday 18 August. If your record exists in our system, you can register your account before this date so you're ready when rooms are released.

Room availability will vary throughout August, so we recommend checking the portal regularly.

Want to know more about where you’ll live?

All our residences have unique characters and offer affordable accommodation in safe, vibrant and diverse communities.

Watch out for your invitation to our Clearing Open Day on Saturday 16 August.

Exclusive to Clearing applicants, this event is a fantastic opportunity to:

  • join us in Newcastle
  • explore campus
  • find out more about your chosen course

We’ll also make sure you have access to our offer holder pages; they’re packed with specific information about your degree programme.
