Course overview
Our Law with Criminology LLB (Hons) combines a law degree with a deeper exploration of crime, criminal behaviour and the justice system.
Examine the complexities of criminal behaviour. From understanding the root causes of crime to analysing how crime is policed, prosecuted and punished. You'll also explore theoretical perspectives of crime, criminal justice and punishment.
Study contemporary issues such as immigration and cybercrime, while developing key skills in critical thinking and problem-solving.
Learn to consider competing arguments, interpret complex information, and apply your knowledge to real-world situations.
Studying criminology alongside law will help you understand how law is shaped, interpreted and applied to real social issues. You’ll explore different views on crime and sentencing, and consider the wider influences at play, including morality, policy, politics and public perception.
Real world experience
In your final year, you'll have the option to put your skills in practice, either:
- working on a real-life challenge set by an external partner, or
- completing an independent research project on a topic you’re passionate about
You can also enhance your skills and employability through optional pro bono schemes, student competitions, study abroad or a work placement year.
By the time you graduate, you’ll have a strong foundation in core areas of law, and a wide range of transferable skills well-suited for careers in law, criminal justice, the civil service, human rights and more.
