Engineering Management MSc

About Rohan

I’m a master’s student from India. I chose the UK for its high-quality postgraduate programmes and the efficient one-year structure. It allows me to deepen my expertise without a long time away from the professional world.

I was drawn to the practical, industry-relevant curriculum and the global perspective gained from studying with students from around the world. This is crucial for my career in engineering management.

Newcastle University stood out

The University stood out for two main reasons. Firstly, the MSc in Engineering Management aligns exactly with my career goals and experience.

Secondly, I was honoured to be awarded the Newcastle-India Leadership and Innovation Scholarship. This investment in me was a powerful signal of the university's commitment to attracting and nurturing talented international students, and it solidified my decision.

I love the perfect balance Newcastle offers. The university campus is a vibrant, academic hub with fantastic facilities, and its right next to the city centre.

Receiving the Newcastle-India Leadership and Innovation Scholarship eased financial pressure, allowing me to focus on my MSc programme and invest more time in my studies and career development.

My favourite thing about the course

I enjoy the collaborative projects that mirror real industry scenarios the most. Getting to work with people from diverse engineering backgrounds to solve complex problems has significantly improved my teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills.

The course goes beyond theory, it emphasises how to apply management principles directly to engineering challenges. It prepares you to lead in a technical environment from day one. I'm learning all about how to manage complex engineering projects, lead technical teams, and make data-driven decisions that turn innovative ideas into real-world solutions.

The Engineering Management MSc is the perfect bridge between deep technical knowledge and strategic business leadership.

Exploring Newcastle

The social side of my experience has been a real highlight. Newcastle is a fantastically social city, and I enjoy exploring its diverse food markets, activities and restaurants with friends. I also love taking photography walks along the Quayside and across the bridges. I’ve also enjoyed attending university-hosted events, which are a great way to meet people from different courses.

The Geordie welcome is genuine and immediate. The city itself also surprised me with its beautiful, walkable centre and the stunning green spaces.
