Meet Gloria

Media and Public Relations MA

Why I chose Newcastle University

Hi, I’m Gloria, a postgraduate student from Ghana. Aside from Newcastle’s great scholarship opportunities and their great prestige in the world rankings, I have always wanted to study abroad where I can build my network and advance my education.

What surprised me about Newcastle

One thing that surprised me was just how warm and welcoming the people of Newcastle are and their kindness to strangers.

Funding and support

The funding has allowed me to study with joy and pride, without any stress of trying to overwork to pay debts.

How Newcastle helped me realise my future

Beyond academics, participating in activities such as representing the university in the UPR Model and engaging in media-related projects has helped me build confidence, teamwork, leadership, and networking skills. It has made my passion grow for the media industry – I would love to go into podcasting and public relations.

Why a student should pick this degree

The Media and Public Relations MA equips you with powerful communication skills that are valuable in almost every industry today. In a world driven by digital media, branding, and online communication, organisations need professionals who can connect with audiences, manage reputations, and tell impactful stories.
