Mathematics, Statistics and Physics Scholarships
We have a range of scholarships available for Mathematics, Statistics and Physics students.

Supporting women to study STEM subjects reflects the shared ethos of the Ann Cairns Scholarship, the Women’s Giving Circle and Newcastle University. The scholarship is designed to encourage more women into these subjects.
Details
Three scholarships are available to female students entering stage 1 in 2022-23 in the Schools of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, Statistics and Physics. Scholarships are for £2,000 per annum each for three-years of study. Application is by competitive process.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this award you must:
- Be in stage 1 in 2022-23 in one of the following Schools: Engineering, Computing, or Mathematics, Statistics and Physics;
- Preference will be given to female home students, ordinarily resident in the UK;
- Be able to demonstrate that you are capable of high performance.

Applications will be judged on academic potential, enthusiasm and aptitude for the chosen programme of study.
Recipients are required to give an annual update on their progress.
The Sir Paul Marshall Scholarship is provided by the Sequoia Trust to offer scholarship funding for Mathematics and Statistics undergraduates for whom finance is a barrier to their learning. Sir Paul believes that a solid understanding of mathematical principles provides an excellent foundation for a range of careers.

Two scholarships are available to stage 1 undergraduate students taking a Single Honours, Joint Honours or Major/Minor programme including Mathematics or Statistics.
The awards are for £2,000 per year for up to four years of study.
Application is by competitive process.

To be eligible for this award you must:
Be an undergraduate home (UK based) student, entering stage 1 of study in 2022-23.
Preference will be given to those who are from low-income households or who can demonstrate financial need. This could include:This could include:
- Unable to cover basic cost of living;
- Unable to participate in extra-curricular activities;
- Having to work in excess of 10 hours per week in a job.
Applications from candidates from widening participation and diverse backgrounds are encouraged.
