Staff Profile

Karl Ward

KTP Manager

Since opting for a career change from my role as a research associate in the Marine School I have been working in a variety of roles with industry support organisations.  I worked for the Shipbuilders and Shiprepairers Association representing the British marine industry at National and international levels.   In 2005 I moved to NDI leading an engineering supply chain mapping project before being promoted to director of projects and programmes.  I moved to Newcastle College in 2007 under the HEFCE Higher Level Skills Pathfinder, working within the HE Directorate on employer engagement.  While there I developed and delivered a number of RDA funded projects which allowed the HE element of the College to grow and to develop new collaborative relationships with the University.  The work ultimately lead me back to the University and a role as Science City programme manager.  In 2012 I was moved to special projects in the SAgE Faculty working on the early stages of London and Singapore.  In 2013, I moved to the University of York where I was International Relations Manager, managing the university's strategic relationships and overseeing the development of strategic partnerships for the university and later the N8. I also held research support portfolios for India, Brazil and Japan. My main expertise and experience is in forming and managing collaborative networks.
