Research Funding Development Manager

Background

Introduction

In my role as Research Funding Development Manager (EU & International), I work across the three Faculties to support academic staff with their applications to international funding bodies such as Horizon Europe, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and European Research Council (ERC) to enable their research. I am also a team contact for the Council for At-Risk Academics (CARA) Researchers at Risk Fellowship programme.


Our Research Funding Development Team provides:

  • advice on funder strategy;
  • information on funders' forthcoming plans and opportunities;
  • support for large and complex funding applications;
  • visits and information sessions from funders;
  • 'in house' funding information sessions;,~
  • advice on finding funding;
  • advice on preparing funding applications;
  • lay review of funding applications;
  • grant training

Background

Formerly, at the university I was Research Project Coordinator for a range of projects in the Electrical Power group within the School of Engineering and a Project Assistant on a global clinical trial, VISION-DMD based at the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre. Before working at Newcastle University, I was Project Officer for the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) based at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. 


Prior to working in European funding, I worked at an environmental management consultancy in Manchester which practiced community-led planning and promoted the European Landscape Convention.


Qualifications

I studied Town Planning and Environmental Management at The University of Manchester.
