Dr Christine Masterson

Grants and Contracts Manager

I work in the Grants and Contracts team, which is part of the University Research Office. The team’s role as a whole is to provide efficient, timely support to academics applying for research grants in the SAgE and HASS faculties.

I have a background in science and was employed for 17 years as a member of academic staff at Newcastle before changing career and becoming a research administrator in the University Research Office as part of the non-medical grants and contracts team.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Grants and Contracts Manager I provide advice and support on a range of activities to staff in the research environment from initial application to project set up.

I can help you with any queries relating to:

·         funding applications;

·         internal (University) and outside (Funder) electronic submission systems;

·         research policies and protocols;

·         drafting, reviewing and negotiation of all types of contracts relating to research, including Collaboration Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Contracts for Services, Subcontracts, incoming Material Transfer Agreements and Studentship Agreements.

As part of my role I am an authorised signatory for research applications and contracts and I am also responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant University policies and procedures.
